If however you have a source of income which is not taxed at source or if you are liable to be taxed at a higher rate on your income you will very likely need to complete a Self Assessment Tax Return.

What are the benefits of expert help with my Self Assessment Tax Return?
At Langers we have decades of combined experience in filing tax returns for individuals, sole traders, and businesses.
We ensure all tax returns are completed correctly, on time and importantly, that all back up documents pertaining to tax return are held for the designated period of time as stipulated by HMRC.
What date must my Self Assessment Tax Return be completed by?
Whilst there are certain exceptions, in general there are two Self Assessment options. The deadline for completion of the hard copy tax return issued to you by HMRC is 31st October. Assuming this date is met, HMRC will calculate actual tax due.
Alternatively if you choose to file your tax return online via the HMRC site you will have until 31st January to submit. In this case your tax liability will automatically be calculated by the site software.
Remember that if you fail to complete and return your self assessment by the due date set by HMRC there is an automatic fine to you of £100. However, this may be reduced if the amount of tax due is less than £100.
If your tax is still outstanding 6 months later you will again be fined £100
As well as the completion of your Tax Return we can also assist with:
- Advice on your tax liabilities
- Negotiating with the Collector if necessary
- Identifying suitable tax planning opportunities
- Completing all the necessary tax computations
- Dealing with all correspondence from HMRC, taking the worry away from you
