Meet the Team
ERIC LANGER BSc (Hons) FCA
Has been engaged in the accounting profession since1972 after leaving the University of Manchester with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics He qualified with the international firm of Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KMPG) in 1976 having joined them from University. After four years spent dealing with mainly Public Companies he joined the four partner firm of Boyd Wrigley & Co and was made a partner in 1979. In 1982 he moved to Shreeve & Co as a partner before starting Langer & Co in 1986.
In April 2003 the business was divided into Langer & Co specialising in audit and other regulatory work and Langer & Co Limited trading as Langers who undertake the remaining accountancy, taxation and general work.
Enjoys playing 5 aside football and badminton. Keen on walking and in 2008 achieved a life time’s ambition when he and Janet went trekking in the foothills of Annapurna.
Christopher Smail BSc FCA DChA - Audit and Accounts Manager
Chris qualified with Price Waterhouse & Co. Manchester (now part of PWC) in 1982 having completed his degree in Management Sciences at UMIST in 1978. On qualifying worked as a management accountant in a variety of industries, including food packaging, vehicle hire and flower import/export, where he gained a broad experience. He joined Langer & Co in 1995 where he specializes in company and charity audit and accounts as well as Solicitor Accounts, ABTA and IATA rules
Steven Buck FCCA - Assistant Audit and Accounts Manager with special responsibilities for Corporation tax Compliance
Steven joined Langer & Co in 1996 straight after completing his A Levels. Whilst with Langers he has completed his qualifications of ACCA and previously AAT. He is responsible for audit, accounts preparation and taxation of our larger concerns including limited companies charities, partnerships and sole traders.
Elizabeth Mills AAT, IPP
Liz joined Langer & Co in 1998 straight from school after completing her GCSE’s. She completed her AAT qualification in 2002. She is responsible for accounts preparation and taxation of small limited companies, partnerships and sole traders and bookkeeping. She is in charge of the payroll department and recently obtained her Institute of Payroll Professionals qualification (IPP)
James Wheelan ACCA
James joined in 2000 after completing his A levels. Whilst with Langers he has completed his qualifications of ACCA and previously AAT. He is involved in the audit, accounts preparation and taxation of our larger limited companies, partnerships and sole traders. He has specialised in the solicitors accounts rules.
Steven Nixon BSc AAT
Steven decided on a change of career in 2005 and is now studying for his ACCA having completed his AAT qualification with us. He is involved in accounts preparation and taxation of limited companies, partnerships and sole traders. He helps maintain our computer programs and systems.
Emma Oldfield AAT
Emma joined us in July 2004 and has obtained her AAT qualification. She is involved in accounts preparation and taxation of limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
Chris Hill
Chris joined us in August 2003 and has merely to complete his project to obtain his AAT qualification. He is involved in accounts preparation and taxation of limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
Janet Langer - Office Manager
Married to the boss and keeps him under control both at home and at work.
